SURVEY REVEALS SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT TEENAGE
POPULATION
According to a survey conducted last week
by Bliss Magazine, a quarter of girls aged
14 claim to have had sex with an average of
three partners. Among those who said they have
had sex, 65% admitted to unprotected sex and
45% said they have had a one night stand. The
survey also revealed that 70% of the 2,000
teenagers polled were desperate for more information
about sex and love, and 57% said their parents
never talked to them about it.
Sexual Health Group, a national supplier of
sexual health products to customers including
the NHS, updates shareholders on the growing
concern over the lack of awareness and safe
sex practice amongst not only the UK’s
teenage population, but men and women of all
ages. The Company also provides an update on
pertinent corporate matters.
Of all the respondents to Bliss’ survey,
75% said they felt there was too much pressure
on young people to have sex, and that alcohol
was one of the key factors in girls losing
their virginity early, as 60% of the sexually
active 14 year olds admitted to being drunk
during their first time.
“The survey shows that there is a lack
of awareness of the implications of unprotected
sexual activity amongst many teenagers. Young
people especially, need accurate and reliable
information so that they can make informed
choices about their relationships and sex lives.
Experience has shown that children who have
high quality sex education not only start sexual
activity at a later age, but also have a better
understanding of the repercussions of unprotected
sex” commented George Sutherland, CEO
of Sexual Health Group. “With the number
of people visiting Sexual Health Clinics increasing
at a rate of approximately 17% per annum, it
is clear that it is a trend that is being seen
not only in teenagers”
Since January 2005, Sexual Health Group has
secured seven new Primary Care Trust (“PCT”)
contracts within the NHS. These PCT’s,
which are based in the North and North West
of England, have selected the Company to provide
its Condomania condoms and supporting educational
materials to Sexual Health Clinics, and Young
People Clinics in those areas. Work on these
recent wins will begin at the start of April.
Furthermore, following a highly active marketing
campaign by the management, referred to in
a recent Newstrack statement, the Board can
confirm that from these valuable conferences
and recommendations from current customers,
that over 100 new customer contacts have been
made, which the Management will be following
up over the next few months.
Chairman, John French, commented: “As
the survey highlights, these are concerning
times for the future of the nation. This sexual
crisis reinforces the need for an all embracing
company like Sexual Health Group to be providing
its products and services to the market, both
now and in the future.
“Since my last statement, your company
has continued to progress steadily, and the
strong foundations on which the business will
be built are in place.”
The Directors of the Issuer accept responsibility
for this announcement.
